San Juan is a very large metropolitan area. For tourism purposes, the only relevant sections of San Juan discussed in this article are Old San Juan, Puerto de Tierra, Condado, Ocean Park and the adjacent Isla Verde area in the city of Carolina.
Rules for beaches
Alcohol
Tourists are often amazed at how alcohol-friendly San Juan is. Alcohol (beer in particular) is sold on almost every beach. Beaches often bring beer, wine and cocktails to the beach. It is not only legal to drink on public beaches, but also licensed by the city.
nudity
There is no nudity in Puerto Rico. In San Juan, there are no “private” or solitary areas for such behavior.
Music
There are no rules regarding the amount of music or the use of electronic equipment on the beach. The only limitations are those imposed by taste and politeness.
Neighborhood
Old san juan
Old San Juan sits on a rock facing north, and is laid out by a harbor in the south. The only public beach is at the foot of San Cristobal. This beach is rocky, uncomfortable and difficult access. In addition, it adjoins two ghettos (La Perla and Puerto de Tierra). Probably, this beach can be avoided by non-residents unfamiliar with the culture of Puerto Rico.
Puerto de tierra
Next to the Caribe Hilton is the lagoon and beach, popular with locals. As there is a bathroom in this area, sufficient parking and access to the highway, this beach (Escambron) is extremely popular with the locals. Tourists rarely resort to this beach, which is often noisy and, as a rule, Puerto Rican. It is not dangerous during the day, but caution should be exercised at night because of its remoteness and purchases in the ghetto of Puerto de Tierra.
Condado
Condado has some great beaches. First is the Playita, a closed lagoon on the edge of the Condado Bridge. The lagoon extends to the bay that separates Miramar from Condado, and is marked by its canoes, paddle and calm lakes. Playita is ideal for small children and is absolutely safe day and night.
The beach adjacent to La Concha is well known for the boardwalk, which partially covers the beach. There are chairs, and on Sundays the neighboring festivals in Ventana del Mar add an exception to the area. Beware: the tides between La Concha and the exits from Presby Hospital have taken lives in the past. This area is great for swamps and swimming near the shore, but caution should be exercised due to frequent riptics. This beach is also known for its surfers and bodybuilders due to higher than usual wave breaks.
The gay beach opposite Oceano and Atlantic Beach is directly opposite La Concha. This stretch of San Juan seafront has been a gay pet for decades. Sometimes Riptides also creates a problem.
The last stretch of beach behind Marriott meets stony exits. There is a surfing area just behind the Marriott, but surfers must navigate the rocks to enjoy the waves. Condado beaches are completely safe during the day and are usually very safe at night.
aquarium
The beaches of Ocean Park are the best in the city of San Juan. Beaches start at the exit of Presby Hospital, and after 100 feet of hidden rocky obstacles are smoothed to a calm and typically tropical beach. On the long shores of the beach there are volleyball nets, palm trees, roving sellers (ice cream, beer, alcapuria) and gentle waves. The area east of Presby Hospital is another surf. favorite. The beaches of Ocean Park are absolutely safe during the day, you should be careful at night due to the lack of lighting and walking.
Ultimo trolley
Located between Isla Verde and Ocean Park is another local favorite. Called from its location as the last stop in San Juan, the now-defunct trolls, Ultimo Trolley has ample parking and street vendors. Salsa, performers, sportsmen and other locals visiting the beach during the day take part in the adjective gazebo and sports arena. In this area should be avoided at night.
Isla Verde
Isla Verde is technically located in the city of Carolina. The crescent-shaped beach front is lined with luxurious resorts and hotels. The area is known for its waves of tranquility and security. The long-mile-long beach ends in El Ambik, a local pet with several bars and restaurants bordering the beach. Isla Verde has banana boat rental, massage chairs and a range of other amenities for luxury like-minded people.
Conclusion
San Juan is special because it is one of the few cosmopolitan cities in the world that boasts a tropical beach. San Juan has three miles of ancient tropical beaches that are strictly public. A variety of beaches provides opportunities for everyone from children to trembling.
