Cabin debris in the Blue Ridge
In the mountains of North Georgia there is a beautiful landscape, trees, streams, rivers and wildlife. Most of the territory is a forest and home for many animals, including bears, coyotes, snakes and spiders. When you stay in a cabin in the woods, you are a guest in your homeland. We want all our guests to be safe, aware of the wildlife around them.
Our cabin rental company asks guests to dump the garbage and then put it in the garbage cans that are in the litter boxes. Raccoons love to open trash cans, so we put our trash cans in wooden trash cans with a latch. Bears also like a little snack, so we recommend that guests take the trash only in the daytime. Always bag or double garbage bag to help mask the smell that can attract various wild animals. Snakes and spiders, such as cold, wet places, always look before touching or walking near the dustbin. Be careful when placing the bag trashcan in the trash can and seal the trash can lid.
Never leave food outside! If you are traveling on foot, be sure to pick up your trash and be aware of your surroundings. The picnics are great, but make sure you don't send unintended invitations to the bear. Coyotes consider small animals an excellent snack, so PLEASE do not leave your animals unattended. Keep small animals on a leash or in sight at any time. The hawk can pounce and pick up a tiny dog in seconds. Dogs also love sniffing and can get into trouble by sniffing stones with a thick brush. Snakes also love these areas, so it's always best to keep animals on a leash. Streams can attract snakes, so keep in mind when you enter the stream, especially if there is tall grass or a brush in the area.
Mountain life means living in the mountains and sharing them with the surrounding wildlife, including predatory or dangerous animals such as bears, snakes, spiders, coyotes, scorpions and hawks. Do not be surprised if you find errors in your cabin or around it, because it is almost impossible to save these creatures. Part of the mountain life is aware that you will most likely see wild animals and beetles. Be safe and always be aware of your surroundings.
