The Breitling Watch company has become famous for its incredibly detailed luxury luxury watches. To commemorate their success, the company introduced a limited version of the Breitling Navitimer Watch.
When you look at the success of a company, you understand that this is nothing short of phenomenal. From a tiny work shop in the Swiss Jura mountains to an actual leader in aviation-oriented watches, this company of wristwatches took a very long time.
To commemorate this achievement, the company created the 125th anniversary of Navitimer. Thanks to this wristwatch, Breitling will only release the 2009 stainless steel versions. In addition, the 18 carat gold version will be released. To make this version special (and therefore much more valuable for collectors and amateurs), only 125 works will be made.
To distinguish this watch from the traditional Navitimer, the traditional bracelet was replaced with an “Air racer” style bracelet. This distinctive bracelet has a “retro” look that includes large holes. Fortunately, this look only enhances the masculinity of the watch, while maintaining its appearance.
Another difference between this clock and the original is the placement of the calendar. With this watch, the date calendar is placed at the six o'clock position, which results in a significantly cleaner look compared to the original design.
In addition to these two modifications, the watch is basically the same. The watch can be operated under water for up to 100 feet, it uses Breitling 26 Caliber mechanical movement with 38 gems, it has a 42-hour power reserve and works with 28,800 vibrations per second.
The last significant aspect of this watch, which we will discuss, is the bi-directional rotating slide control panel. When the original watch was created, many aircraft navigators used this watch to perform complex calculations to determine their location. While no one else needs this functionality (very few of us do not have GPS), it is still neat Breitling to honor the legacy of aviation, while maintaining this outdated functionality.
