It is easy to organize when you first go into the house. You think a lot about where you want to put things and try to organize. Then time passes, more things accumulate, and cabinets become erratic. Perhaps it is time to think about a major overhaul.
Your wardrobe is a good place to start. Linen closets are usually small and are located next to the bedroom or bathroom in the prairie style home plans. The best place to start is everything. Pass through towels and bedding. Throw away all that is worn. Linen closets have much more than bed linen. Medicines and cosmetics are not always forever. Dispose of any old medication properly. If you do not know how many years have passed or that the object smells or looks funny, throw it away. If there are items in the closet that are in good shape, but you know that you will not use them, donate them to charity.
As soon as you know what you want to keep, start replenishing your closet. Group the sheets into sets and fold the laundry neatly. In the closet in your cottage plans can be adjustable racks so that you can set the height of the shelves for your needs. Items that you use the most should be on the most accessible shelves. You do not want to look for a ladder every day, because you put something that is used regularly on a high shelf. When you have the most important things, look what's left. Blankets or bulky items that you rarely use can go to the top shelves. Toiletries and cleaning products can be grouped together and placed in their own containers. If you are worried about spills, put liquid objects in waterproof bins or containers. Toilet paper and other bulky paper products can go to the floor of the cabinet. If you keep cleaning products in a closet, make sure they are kept out of the reach of children and pets.
Your clean and organized closet will probably inspire you to get through the rest of your home. Floor plans for a luxury home typically have tons of closet space that can become erratic over time. If possible, go through all your closets for a month or two. You will know that each cabinet is holding and will be able to figure out whether you should move things. Some items in the linen closet may be more accessible if moved into a closet for the bedroom. Cleaning supplies could be moved from the cabinet to the sink. You may find that you have duplicate items that you do not need, or things that you have forgotten. The items you want to donate can be installed until all your cabinets are organized, so you only need one trip to the donation center.
