Escada is one of the top international luxury fashion groups specializing in women's fashion. This is one of those brands that are famous for wearing red stars and celebrity carpet events.
The label was founded in 1976 by Margareta and Wolfgang Ley. The name of the company actually came from the name of the racehorse on which they made a winning bid. This seemed appropriate since the company was a gamble when they entered the world of high fashion.
The company started as Escada Sportliche Eleganz from SRB, but was reduced to Escada the following year. The brand specialized in luxury and high-class sportswear, and after a few years it established itself as a major player in the luxury sports field. This was due to the use of high-quality materials, effective and creative use of colors and, of course, women's and elegant designs.
Escada continued to offer high-quality designer clothing and succeeded in expanding its customer base, eventually growing in many areas of women's clothing, specializing in formal wear and knitwear. By 1986, the company expanded to have outlets in Asia and the United States, and the brand gained worldwide fame, which it continues to possess to this day.
Today it provides items in virtually every category of fashion: from clothes to shoes, bags and other fashion accessories. The company also has a rich perfume line dating back to 1990, when Escada was launched for women.
Three years later, the men's Escada cologne was also released for men, as well as two new fragrances for women: Margareta and Chiffon Sorbet. Chiffon Sorbet was an innovative new idea implemented by the new designer Mikhail Stolzenberg, who replaced Margaret Ley after her death. It was the first of many experimental seasonal flavors that were sold only for a certain season.
The fragrance line of the company is one of the most prolific among the major designers and fashion companies, with more than thirty eight fragrances being created throughout the sixteen years. For example, the classic Escada Sport trio is one of the most famous fragrances on the market.
