If you are thinking about restoring a classic car or a classic luxury limousine, the following frequently asked questions may be helpful.
What is a classic car or a limousine?
There is no generally accepted definition.
Some people trying to sell a 10-year-old car in poor condition may call it a “classic.” It will be more from trying to increase the sale price than anything else.
Very wide conversations, most people consider "classics":
- limited, highly valued and more rare carrier of age, even those who are only 5-10 years old;
- any vehicle older than 25-30 years;
- any vehicle older than 25-30 years, but later than 1920. Most cars until 1920 are called "antiques".
Is there a car that can be repaired?
Theoretically, you can take one screw from the Ford Model & and build a car around it. Voila! You have restored the model.
The real question should be: “Can you save and reasonably repair any car”? The answer is no, you can not.
There are three aspects to this;
- Do not think that you have a chance to restore the car and make a profit from its resale. About 99.9% of people trying to do this end up losing a lot of money in an attempt;
- If your chassis and subframes of your car are gone, it can still be restored, but you can also create a reproduction from scratch in terms of value. The cost of restoration is likely to be astronomical;
- Remember that if most of the car is gone, then your law on the finished product of love is likely to be seriously criticized or even spoiled by experts as “not authentic,” “difficult,” or “sad marriage of disparate works,”
What is the cost of a restored car?
Unfortunately, many people are mistaken in trying to evaluate this, based on a review of what others are asking to restore examples on EBAY or similar forums.
This method is often completely useless.
Many websites are full of refurbished cars that are simply unavailable. This is because their owners paid too much for them, spent a lot of luck on rebuilding, and then added 50% on top as profits. They are then shocked when the car does not sell.
If you use it as your guide, you will suffer.
The only way to check the market value of a car is to try to find examples of refurbished models that are actually sold and how much - and are not hypnotized, looking at what other people are unrealistically asking for their heads.
Can you find classic luxury limousines for sale?
Yes, they exist. Some luxury limousine suppliers, Sydney and others, sell their old cars - if they own them.
There are other specialized sites that can also help.
