I would like to share here my dream that has not yet come true; it is called Hotel Katiki and is located on Santorini. When I travel, I usually do not pay attention to housing, as the destination for me matters. Santorini Island is a unique place that I highly recommend to everyone who comes to Greece. Hotel Katikies is the pearl of Santorini. Therefore, I had some kind of obsession with this luxury hotel!
Katikies, means home in Greek and is a word that, unfortunately, cannot be translated into English. I can just tell you what the word "Katikia" causes a feeling of warmth and cosines when you hear it - and this is also what the Katikies Hotel is talking about.
It was built about ten years ago in the famous village of Santorini, Oia (Ia), in a beautiful place. The hotel is really built on the rock of Santorini and has a magnificent view of the Aegean Sea and the island of Santorini volcano. And every evening, visitors can admire the famous sunset of Santorini from their rooms’s balconies or by the hotel’s pool.
This luxury hotel is built according to the traditional Cycladic architecture, with Santorian characteristics. The rooms and suites of the Katikies Hotel look like small caves on a rock, all whitewashed and connected with small steps of the stairs. Each room at Katikies has a unique minimal decoration, style and a great view.
If you are expecting a story about my personal experiences during my time at Katikies, I will disappoint you. I have not managed to stay in Katikies yet ... and I will not be able to do this in the summer of 2007, since I cannot afford it. My last trip to South Africa, although great, was left with less money in my bank account, but my economic status is not that interesting, so let's go back to the Katikies!
As you can imagine from the above, Katikies is not what you would call a “budget hotel” .... this is a luxury hotel, a member of a chain of small luxury hotels, and its rooms and apartments are a bit more expensive.
So my obsession Hotel Katiki started when I had lunch at the hotel’s gourmet restaurant in the open air with a friend who stayed there in May 2001. The following years I carefully read about the hotel on the Internet and planned my stay at the island hotel. But I am a typical Greek, and I decided to make the last reservation. As a result, the Katikies Hotel had nothing. Now I learned the importance early booking and I recommend that you book a book as soon as possible, since Katikies has only 7 rooms and 15 apartments!
Last but not least, I’ll tell you about my pool, Famous Infinity Pool Katikies ! It is very impressive because it is built on the edge of a cliff.
