Hyundai Genesis - a luxurious wannabe or a better deal? -2

When Hyundai announced a few years ago that they would be developing new luxury models with a view to delivering these cars to the ultra-competitive markets in North America and Europe, most enthusiasts immediately criticized the Korean automaker for this decision. Criticism had little to do with Hyundai’s ability to build these types of cars — they did this for years, but kept them in Korea — rather, the automaker planned to sell these cars under the umbrella of Hyundai,

It's the same as selling a Chevy from a Cadillac dealer.

Despite criticism, Hyundai went ahead and introduced its flagship Genesis sedan to the United States and immediately followed this car with a Genesis coupe. Like it or not, Hyundai pushes an elite car with a surprisingly luxurious car and undermines its competition by thousands of dollars.

2009 Hyundai Genesis Sedan

Hyundai has several popular cars in its crosshairs when it releases the Genesis. The Cadillac CTS, Lexus ES and Chrysler 300 are just a few of the cars Hyundai mentioned as competitors in Genesis. Other models from Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti and Acura are also fair game, and it is the owners of these Hyundai models who would like to persuade them to consider Genesis. Even if this does not succeed, Hyundai is confident that many owners of Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen, Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet would not mind paying a few more thousand dollars to get Cadillac quality at the price of Pontiac.

Two engines are available with Genesis customers: the 3.8L V6 or the powerful 4.6L V8 with a power of 375 horsepower. The last engine, although not very economical on gas, is proposed to appeal to luxury car buyers who expect high power and are willing to pay for it.

The "being" rear wheel platform also fits what luxury car buyers want. These types of cars are regularly checked at the famous German Nürburgring racetrack (also known as the “ring”), where they pass through the steps and are judged by their characteristics. I haven’t received a word yet about whether Genesis is verified there, but if it weren’t, you can expect Hyundai to join Porsche, Cadillac, BMW, Saleen, Infiniti, Mercedes and other manufacturers in the very near future.

Being is all about luxury

In addition to choosing the engine (each connected to a six-speed automatic transmission), Genesis is all about luxury. Some of its main features include: four-wheel anti-lock braking system with brake system; electronic stability control; traction control; front and side airbags; adaptive lighting; power is all; driver information system; backup camera; skin is everywhere; wood veneer; etc.

Genesis style is similar to the previous generation of Mercedes (or can it be infinite?). But with a basic MSRP of $ 32,250 worth more than ten thousand dollars less than comparable models.

Auto critics are only now gaining access to Genesis and giving cars glowing reviews. It is clear that Hyundai has surpassed itself with Genesis, but one potentially fatal flaw is possible: will customers flock to a value-oriented car, such as the Hyundai Genesis, or will they pay extra for the prestige of owning a BMW, Lexus or Mercedes? Time will tell; It is interesting to see how consumers react.
