Sometimes, when you travel with a large family, the first thing you throw is privacy — it is a tough package of all these people in a couple of motel rooms. This is one kind of vacation.
The second is one that includes privacy, peace of mind, downtime and general peace of mind, because in this version of your family vacation you plan to book a holiday home - and one that is large enough for everyone to have their own little piece of real estate.
We concluded that the absolute best holiday we have ever taken is located in Leavenworth only on the eastern edge of the Northern Cascade Mountains. The fathers of Leavenworth Town have been milking it for the past 50 years or so with Bavarian themed shop windows and German beers and celebrations. The city is becoming increasingly popular.
Tucked away from the city center and a mile or so, Icicle Creek Road is a rental called Snowgrass Lodge, one of several destinations offered by Destination Leavenworth, but of course in class.
We wanted to try a larger property and put it to the test of a child, inviting seven grandchildren to come and try. Unfortunately, these annoying cascades of weather - and very snowy passages - limited our party to only our family of three and my relatives.
But no matter - it was difficult to imagine how well this housing would be suitable for a large family. In fact, we cannot think of a property that is better suited for a large family group that is interested in a quality holiday in one of the best holiday destinations in the entire Northwest Pacific.
There are several comparisons that come to mind when trying to describe Snowgrass Lodge. The first feeling you get with this house is that you walk into a house on Dream Street. You know, the ones that you can never afford. Rich woods, the ceilings of the cathedral, a massive stone fireplace, a gourmet kitchen - all this will immediately inform you that this will be an update from the RV park, baby.
Another meaning you get is that you now run your own London hotel, except that all the guests are your family. There are no other guests or guests to share a kitchen or bathroom, but the building seems large enough to make the hotel a reasonable size. There are three floors, identical to four separate living or sleeping areas, which allows you to separate you and your relatives, you and your brothers and sisters, or you and your brothers and sisters; sometimes annoying family members.
Without trying to give you a detailed floor plan, suffice it to say that there are two master suites in this holiday home, a couple of guest bedrooms, a couple of kitchens, a huge family room for viewing on the big screen, a giant living room that looks more like a hotel lobby and such amenities. like a hot tub on the top floor, as well as an outdoor hot tub overlooking the river. The place is also superb, overlooking the nearby mountains - including one look like the Matterhorn - and wooded land, lawn large enough for outdoor events, and, of course, the nearby Wenatche River.
So what is it worth, you ask? A sensible question with an awesome answer. Midweek is only 475 dollars a night for six guests with each additional adult for $ 25 more, each added child for another $ 20. Rates are slightly higher on weekends and may be slightly higher on national holidays and other periods of peak interest. But when you consider that a 4-star hotel room costs 300 US dollars these days, the cost from 150 to 200 US dollars for a couple or a family seems to us to be beneficial for such a luxurious and exclusive holiday.
Levenworth
Of course, one of the best things about Snowgrass Lodge is that it is located in Leavenworth, which is about three hours east of Seattle and in one of several places in the North center of Washington that are worthy of a vacation.
If you are a longtime northwestern resident, you know the history of Leavenworth. If you have just moved here or lived under a rock, the city began to advance as a Bavarian village as early as 1960. Then it was a small town on the way to Seattle or a place where the east-west travelers went when they traveled over rough terrain on US 2 highway. Nothing much was visible, except for one thing: the landscape.
The Seattle people immediately noticed how they descended through Tumwater Canyon outside of Leavenworth, as mountains and rivers seemed to create photographs with open photographs around every corner on a windy two-lane road. Then, having escaped from the mountains, these travelers immediately met in the city of Leavenworth, which is located right at the foot of these high peaks.
Things were not going so well at that time, and the authorities that were decided could change this by making the village look like a small town in the Alps. All that was needed was a series of repairs for all local businesses in the city and voila, Bavarian architecture combined with mountain landscapes to create the illusion that motorists travel the Bavarian Alps.
Today, the city attracts many thousands of visitors to annual events, such as the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival and the Autumn Leaves Festival, and it can be difficult to find accommodation during these popular celebrations. The city also fills tourists on any weekend, and in the summer and peak season you will also find crowds of visitors who visit local shops in the middle of the week for a souvenir in Bavaria or dine at local Bavarian themed restaurants, Egypt, any of several other types of restaurants available now in Leavenworth.
But Leavenworth is much more than shops and food. This area is known as one of the best for outdoor enthusiasts, as well as numerous trails, the River Wenatci and Lake Wenatci, just 30 minutes away. In the spring river rafting is popular on the river Wenatchee.
Approximately 30 miles east of Leavenworth is Venaci, the largest city in the region, with several attractive parks and trails, including a loop trail that takes you along one side of the Columbia River and on the other side. Wenatchee acts as a sort of center for Washington's North Center, where you will also find several other excellent tourist spots: themed town of Winthrop in Matthew Valley and Lake Cheyne, a natural wonder more than 50 miles long and famous for excellent water sports and fishing.
