 Outdoor use for granite -2

Granite is a popular choice for kitchens and bathrooms, but is also incredibly popular for outdoor use. Here are just a few of the many uses for adding granite to open space.

Scraps

One smart and cheap way to use granite is to use uncoordinated pieces of scrap to decorate your yard. Most granite companies are happy to sell their waste for less than they can charge for a worktop, and these junk pieces can create treasure in the yard. If you can get a decent amount of stone, you may want to create a mosaic path or patio. If you prefer more artistic use, put your different pieces in unique cushions for side tables or modern art decorations.

For large pieces, try putting potted plants and flowers on a shelf on a granite display. Truly large pieces can act as a memorable art that will give your yard a bright but natural aesthetics.

Outdoor kitchen

Outdoor kitchen is growing in popularity as entertainment homes have become a national favorite. Naturally, no outdoor kitchen can exist without a countertop; after all, cooking and grilling is infinitely easier when you have a worktop to work with. Granite is an ideal choice for this application because it complements the external landscape, being strong enough to cope with weather changes.

Although granite is tough and can withstand abuse, you should be careful when using knives and other metal on the actual surface of granite. Metal can scratch the finish on your shelves and make it easier for water and other debris to enter stone.

Caring for finished granite

Since granite is semi-porous, it is necessary to periodically apply a sealant in order not to let water and garbage through. It is also a good idea to clean it regularly with a combination of water and without phosphate, a mild liquid soap for dishes. Be sure to rinse thoroughly with water and wipe with a clean, dry cotton cloth. Using strong soap or leaving some mild soap residue behind will result in a buildup that dulls the brilliant brilliance of granite.

Never use powdered / abrasive cleaners, de-lubrication or bleaching products on your stone, as they can create scratches and scuffs during finishing. Also avoid cleaners containing ammonia, vinegar, or citric acid, which can initiate a chemical reaction and eat on the finished layer.
