Where to stay in Paros and what to do? Part 1 -2

Paros is on one of the Cyclades islands in Greece and is a popular place for summer holidays not only for Athenians (who prefer Paros for their holidays), but also for thousands of tourists coming from all over the world.

Paros is a typical Cycladic-style island with traditional buildings, narrow streets and a great history. The two most popular villages are Parikia (the capital of the island) and Naoussa, a quaint cycling fishing village known better.

Parikia is the main port and commercial center of the island of Paros and is connected to other islands and Athens (the port of Piraeus) by ferries and catamarans. The city is built in accordance with the traditional architecture of the Cycladic architecture, with two-story whitewashed houses with colored doors and windows and small balconies. There are enough Byzantine churches to visit, such as the Panagia Ekatontapiliani (that is, the “Mother of God of the hundreds gate”), as well as museums such as the Archaeological Museum of Paros with various finds (such as ceramics, vases, sculptures, etc.) dating from the Neolithic and the roman period.

In this article we will talk about Naoussa and what to do there. First of all, let's see where to stay ... In Naoussa there are fairly well-organized hotel rooms offering excellent accommodation in Paris hotels, apartments, studios or luxury suites. Upscale hotels are built on the coast, offering stunning views of the sea.

As soon as you arrive at your hotel in Naoussa and after a refreshing shower, prepare to explore the village and its beauty. The first thing you need to do is visit the center of the village, which is a port. Do not wait to see the port as usual ... It is a tiny fishing harbor, very picturesque, with traditional Greek fishing boats (kayaks) and surrounded by fish restaurants, taverns, bars and cafes. Try to get there by 20:30, when it is not so crowded, because later at night you will have to wait in line to go through a narrow walk through the harbor. You will be surprised by the huge amount of Octapu, which dries out in front of restaurants and centers of Naoussa. Speaking of ouzery, this is a traditional Greek tavern serving fish mezdahs and a famous Greek aperitif named ouzo. For adults, I suggest you try this aperitif. It goes well with Octopus on charcoal (dressed with vinegar), sardines (sardis), with squid, with Greek feta cheese and black olives (elies), tzantziki or better Greek salad (horiatiki) with tomato, cucumber, onions, oregano, cheese feta and marque, as well as any other local delicacies that these ouzers can offer. You will be surprised by the tastes and will surely feel that you have reached the clouds after the second or third small glass of ouzo!

Offered ouzeries in Naoussa: Barbarossa and Psarotaverna - Ouzeri ton Naftikon.

After that, you will need a place for entertainment, and Naoussa has a lot to offer. There are several bars, such as Soprano and Kavarnis (from the 60th, 70th and 80th music), Agosta and Cafe Del Mar (from the 90s), and why not try Ranta or Nestos Club (with Greek music).

This is after midnight, but the nightlife in Naoussa Paros never stops ... If you are a night owl, you will not be disappointed. There are several nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning hours.

Whenever you decide, go back to your hotel in Paros and sleep, because the next day you can visit many places.
