Budget Travel - tips on saving money on the road -2

When everyone squeezes pennies and tightens their belts in the face of high oil and gas prices these days, rest looks like a luxury that most of us simply cannot afford. But if you carefully select the places and use a few tricks, you can still travel through this joy.

Tip 1: Night trains and buses
This is one of the ways to kill two birds with one stone, save time and money. When choosing a train or bus, you keep the same time and distance in the distance.

India and Thailand - night trains are quite comfortable and not much more than night trains. Waking up to a fantastic sunrise in Northern Thailand, while speeding up to the rhythm of the tracks is one of the most cherished memories of the traveler.

In Spain, however, a night train can be quite expensive, so check prices carefully.

As for night buses, none of them compares with Turkey. Coffee, tea, pastries, clean rest stops and Lemon Koln put the Turkish bus system in a league of its own.

Tip 2: Choose a hotel that provides additional services.
Some hotels offer a place to sleep. Other hotels offer a place to sleep, as well as a complimentary breakfast (and possibly dinner), airport transfer, internet, walking tours, tea and coffee and other creative services. Usually small budget and boutique hotels seek to please, as they survive from referrals and word of mouth recommendations.

Tip 3: Choose a hotel that is not in the guidebook
The hotel owner in a popular place in Turkey once told a story about his early years in the hotel business. Each person who arrived in the city, went to the same competitive hotel, because he was given a luminous overview in one of the “Bible travels”. If possible, he could not break the circle of people flocking to his opponent. Finally, he began offering the first night of free and incredible cheap beer to lure customers to his hotel. It worked and, paradoxically, today he gets glowing reviews in all Bible Travel.

Another experienced traveler once said that when she looked back on her six-week trip to Rajasthan, India, she realized that she had never spent the night in any guide. She was completely pleased with everyone. So take a chance and spread your business, you may be pleasantly surprised!

Tip 4: Day trips
If you check carefully, you will find some day trips are definitely worth their money, especially if you pay in local currency. Some places simply cannot be visited on their own, or, if you could, it would be such a problem that it would be a pleasure to visit.

The floating market in Bangkok and the underground cities in Cappadocia, Turkey, come to mind. Given that many of these day trips include lunch and entrance tickets to the top of transportation, he does not use excellent math skills to understand that some of them are a good deal.

Tip 5: Look online and book local
Not huge, famous, online booking monsters; less local agents. A travel agent based in Bali can recommend a reputable hotel in Ubud that will suit your honey or family needs, compared to the huge booking site that lists the hotels booked in every country on the planet. If you encounter unforeseen problems (missed flights, delays) or simply want to spend more time somewhere, the travel agent will be able to transfer the booking at no cost. With the booking site you simply lose the deposit at the hotel.

Tip 6: Choose your destination
Get out of the banana highway. In each country there is a “route”, it takes several days to retreat, and you will notice that people are more friendly, the experience is richer, and prices are lower. How do you find these places? Go to the next question.

Tip 7: Get help
Although budget travelers often want professional help, often an agent working on your behalf will save you time and money. Local agents are aware of the great places to be visited, new hotels offering special offers and connection methods that save you time and money. As a rule, agents do not fulfill their promises from the client, but from the hotel or ticket company you have booked. Again, you distribute your money and reap the rewards.
