Can Mezkal in Oaxaca raise the status of the Mexican state for international tourism?-2

Currently, in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, the production of the meccal, the iconic Mexican spirit in agave, is known. For decades, it has also been known for tourism because of its beaches, craft villages, pre-Hispanic ruins, cuisine and colonial architecture. In Oaxaca, there were three hotels hosted at tripadvisor.com. 2016 Travelers Choice Awards in the category of the 25 best shopping hotels in the country. However, for a state that almost completely relies on tourism for its very existence, Oaxaca is not well behind in other categories, does not bode well. And only for the beach resort cities of Mazount and Uatulko the state would be almost completely closed. Tulum, by contrast, came out of nowhere to take first place in the ranking of 25 world countries. Can the mezcal transform the tourist destinations of Oaxaca? Of course, its other sights did not deter the state from the strength to be reckoned with in ratings, where this is possible.

Tripadvisor.com is the world's largest and most respected international travel site. Every year he publishes Travelers Choice Awards for the world, individual countries and regions, in several categories, ranging from different classes of housing, restaurants, museums and other attractions.

At least in the city of Oaxaca, Mexican tourism has flown since 2014, with a sharp increase in the influx of visitors seeking spirit. They originate from the USA, Australia, other states in Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom and other countries. They are presented:

• Tequila fans, as well as other perfumes;

Newbies who have heard about the mezkale, but know little about its nuances and means of production;

• owners of bars and restaurants and their employees are interested in choosing new products to meet the interests of their customers;

• Entrepreneurs who want to better expose Mesquale for the villi in their particular cases.

For the most part, these pilgrims are relatively substantial funds. However, they are extremely under-represented when it comes to ranking the quality of their housing and restaurants in Oaxaca.

Oaxaca was not able to take a single title in the categories of the top 25 best hotels (Rosewood Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen won first place), the top 25 luxury hotels (Rosewood Mayakoba won first place in 25th place) and Top 10 Fine Dining restaurants (first place occupied by the Barvos Restaurant Bar in Puerto Vallarta). Surprisingly, the world-respected restaurant Oaxacan, chef Alejandro Ruiz "Casa Oaxaca" could not boast in the rating. It is safe to assume that the vast majority of tourists looking for a mezcal in the city of Oaxaca dine at Casa Oaxaca, but the restaurant does not take a single place in the popularity contest. Perhaps mezcal aficionados do not use and are not registered members of tripadivsor.com, depending on other tourists with more generalized travel and rest motives.

While Metskal tourism cannot be expected to raise its reputation in all categories listed by tripadvisor.com, the entire state’s discomfort is confirmed by the fact that Oaxaca is not rated at all by the Top 25 family hotels (first place occupied by Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Esmeralda ), Top 25 All Inclusives (first place occupied by the resort of Le Blanc in Cancun) and the top 10 beaches (first place taken by Playa Paraiso Tulum).

While the first place in the category of hotels of the category “Hotel” was taken by the hotel “La Quinta del Sol” in Punta de Mita, the hotels Huatulco took two places and 23 for Misión de los Arcos and Hotel Villablanca Huatulco respectively. Zīga’s postage in Mazut was number 21, rounding Oaxaca’s respectable performance in this category.

What is interesting about these coastal resorts regarding Meckcal tourism is the fact that complaints are often heard that it is difficult to find a good variety of mezcal in any place along the Pacific coast of Oaxaca. Most of the Mezkal fans who visit Oaxaca, in fact, give up the beach part of their vacation, regardless of whether the visit is entirely for pleasure or for business; although some in the former category combine culture and the beach.

Mazunte also shone in the categories of the best small hotels, taking number seven from Casa Pan de Miel (first place went to Hacienda de Los Santos in Alamos, number 12 - at the Casona de Tita hotel in Oaxaca). Mazunte ranked second for romantic hotels with OceanoMar, losing first place at the Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun. Next to Huatulco, ranked number 20 in the category of the top 25 hotels to serve with Misión de Los Arcos, with another Rosewood Mayakoba, who won first place. These are the top three rankings for Rosewood Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, for better overall, luxurious and after-sales service! Yes, the Hotel Casona de Tita is a quality accommodation in the center of Oaxaca, but not so often visitors interested in learning mezzal, stay there; Only one high-class hotel in the rating of tripadvisor.com for the city does not affect anything.

Having completed the housing categories, Oaxaca ranked 12th out of the top 25 B & Bs and inns for Casa Kei in Puerto Escondido, with the best place in The Diplomat Boutique Hotel in Merida. The state was also shown in the museum category, and the Metropolitan Museum de las Culturas took sixth place, and, of course, the first place was taken by the world famous National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City.

The consequence of this is that the state of Oaxaca has many opportunities to reach the Yucatan Peninsula. The latter boast Tulum, Puerto Morelos, Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Of course, besides the hurricane season, the Gulf of Mexico boasts better and predictable weather than in the Pacific Ocean. But this is not a reason for choosing travelers in terms of quality, especially when you consider Mescal tourism. And although the civil unrest in Oaxaca that occurred a decade ago, still leads to the mind of some potential visitors in Mexico, this should only reduce the number and not have a significant impact on the ranking compared to other tourist destinations in the country.

Visiting Oaxaca? I suggest that travelers should head to Mazunt or Huatulco, at least for a southern beach holiday. But, as was suggested, the coastal points of Oaxaca will not interfere with the quality of mezcal. The city should better promote the spirit in the international arena. With at least 15 μl of bars in the city of about 400,000, and fans converging from all over the globe, something is probably wrong. Let's see if there are any changes in the ratings for the 2017 tripadvisor.com Travelers Choice Awards.
