The Aston Martin DB2 sports car was released in 1950 at the New York Auto Show as the natural successor to the DB1 sports doubles and cost £ 1,914.

However, the final version was based on machines that used a 2.6-liter Lagonda engine and aluminum body panels.
With orders for 100 cars placed at the start, DB2 sales were such that the company was stretched to keep up with demand.
By the time production ended in 1953, 411 DB2 had been built, consisting of 339 coupes and 102 drop heads.
ENGINE
In DB2, the 2-liter four-stroke DB1 engine was replaced by the more powerful 2.6-liter Lagonda engine, a direct six DOHC engine, available as a result of the fact that David Brown secured both Aston Martin and Lagonda in 1947.
Equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, a 6.5: 1 compression and two SU carburetors, he developed 105 hp. at 5000 rpm and 125 ft / lb of torque at 3100 rpm.
It provided a top speed of 110 miles per hour and 0-60 miles per hour in 12.4 seconds.
In 1951, the more powerful DB2 Vantage sports car was launched and was equipped with a modified engine with larger carburetors, another camshaft, and the compression ratio increased from 6.5 to 8.2: 1.
It developed 125 hp and produced a top speed of 116 miles per hour, from 0-60 miles per hour in 11.2 seconds.
However, this option is not suitable for the domestic market due to the presence of post-war low-octane fuel.
BLANKA ON THE TRACK
