Imagine a retirement houseboat that includes ocean view accommodation for two, meals, co-ownership on a cruise ship, golf club and country club membership, a monthly cruise to the Bahamas and an annual cruise to the Caribbean. Sounds too good to be true?
Now offered by Waterfront Lifestyles International, this is the latest concept for older Florida people. Retired is a luxury cruise liner, which has a dining room, cocktail lounge, nightclub, library / internet cafe, spa, gym, cigar bar, shops, medical center, solarium, hot tub, casino and shuffleboard. The ship is located on Cape Canaveral, not far from Orlando and the famous sights of central Florida, including Disneyworld, Sea World, Universal Studios and space launches.
Residents actually own 1 / 100th share of the vessel, which includes a cabin for two, meals and the use of ship funds. Like a condominium, they pay a maintenance fee proportional to the size and cost of their cabin (from 125-330 square feet).
This fee is for the operating expenses of the vessel. Since you are not buying a property, the sale will not be subject to property taxes or closing fees. Members actually form the Homeowners Association to make decisions about the maintenance of the vessel and to control fluctuations in monthly payments. The ship is currently called the Alegria, but the Homeowners Association will have the final word on its own behalf. Profits from shops, bars, casinos and spas are returned to the maintenance fund to subsidize the operating budget.
Ship amenities include:
- Weekly housekeeping
- 12 guest cabins available for free accommodation for friends and family (including meals)
- Cashless Casino for recreation, when the ship is docked, but it raises to a true gaming casino, when at sea.
- Access to laundry room
- Bus for shopping, events and viewing places
- The cabins have flat-screen TVs, telephones and high-speed Internet access.
- All rooms are outside units with large windows.
- Monthly cruise to the Bahamas and annual cruise to the Caribbean
- Membership in a local golf club and tennis club
- Parking
- Storage facilities
The cost varies from about 2,500 to 5,500 US dollars per month for two people, including meals and weekly cleaning. In fact, it is quite reasonable when you consider that the cost of a retirement home is usually much higher for one person. An average home for older people can range from $ 1,000 to $ 3,000 per month for one person, or from $ 6,000 to $ 8,000 for high-end facilities.
Investors can even postpone a purchase until they retire, and rent at that time. Residents are also allowed to rent their cabins, but only for rent for one year.
After reviewing your brochures, if you are still interested, leave a refundable deposit of $ 10,000 to store the cabin that interests you most, and you can board the ship and inspect the objects first hand. If this is not what you are looking for, the deposit is fully refunded.
Alegria is the first cruise ship offered by Waterfront Lifestyles, but they hope to add additional ships in Tampa, Jacksonville, Palm Beach and Sarasota.
