If you love your dog, box! -2

When it comes to kennel training (or the box), some dog owners have tried and surrendered, others consider it cruel, while others simply did not think about the thought. But training boxes is a very practical tool and, when used correctly, is one of the best ways to promote emotionally healthy dogs. Here's what you need to know in order to have a happier and healthier pet for the whole family.

Let's start by exploring the natural instincts of the canines. Unlike people who drool over soaring, vaulted ceilings and thousands of square feet, fangs prefer their homes to be small, cozy lairs. It provides protection from predators and heat in the winter months. In fact, the lair is cruel to the survival of the dog in the wild. A dog that sleeps in the open air becomes easy prey, and all dogs know this — this is why they are inherently long suited to the den. When inside a box, dogs spend most of their time sleeping. This is not because they are bored, but because dogs need about 13 hours of sleep per day to function properly. They will be pleased to get most of this dream in their nursery, looking forward to the time when the family will return home. So remember: although people regret that they are kept in a checkered building, dogs will always love them.

In each class I teach, most people go home, fully intending to train the drawers, but usually refuse within the first two or three days. What for? Because their puppy whines, cries and scratches in the nursery all night long, and they, unfortunately, want to sleep. As a result, they throw this wonderful training tool out of the window. It seemed to me fascinating that the same people who have the benefit to go through months and months with a newborn child cannot go through a week of training boxes. And that's all you need. Within one week, your puppy should be fully acclimatized in your cattery. Despite the fact that the puppy's instincts have long been needed for a den, we still need to understand that this private den is alien to them. When the puppy was born, he was born inside his mother. This is what they have learned and loved. Therefore, when we take a dog from our mother and introduce it to a new one, there should be a transition period. There are several ways to make this transitional period as quick and painless as possible:

1) When you buy a puppy, bring it home in the morning and plan to spend the whole day with it. This will give him more time to get used to his surroundings before heading to his nursery at night. Never bring a new puppy home in the evening. He will not have time to get to know you and will be very lonely, scared and pay for his mother (maybe all night).

2) Some puppies will act depressed on the first day from their mother and siblings, while others seem to fit right into their new family. In any case, you should start training in a box on the day you bring your puppy home. Start with a meal in the nursery. Put your food bowl on the opposite door. You may have to persuade him to the nursery, but as soon as he is inside, praise him and love him. Repeat the persuasion exercise until he feels comfortable in the nursery. Reproaching him, give the kennel team of your choice: “Go to the nursery” or “Go to your room” or “Nursery up”. Once he is trained in the nursery, all you have to do is point out the nursery and give the command, and he should go straight, eliminating the need to pursue him when you are already late for work.

3) When you have a game session, try throwing the puppy game into the kennel for several random times to get him used to the kennel as a fun place. In addition, if you have started obedience training, throw a puppy's reward into his kennel when he does something good. He will begin to attribute praise and good behavior to his nursery.

4) Never use a nursery as a punishment. The nursery should always be a place of comfort and safety. If you need to remove your dog from the rest of the package (your family), choose a small room, such as a laundry room or a spare bathroom. It is good for a dog to link discipline with one of these rooms, but never its kennel.

5) When you start, always keep the nursery in the same room as you. If you are in the kitchen most of the day, bring a nursery there. If your whole family is in the living room, enjoying the film, bringing a nursery there. Soon, your dog will begin to prefer to hang out in his kennel, rather than on the floor or on the couch. My dog spends most of the time sleeping in the kennel. When he is ready to sleep, he will return to his nursery again, open the door himself, climb inside and gasp until I call him. Everyone thinks it's strange for this, but in fact he just does what his instincts tell him.

6) Always perform tough love. If your dog is whining, craving or scratching, it’s not because he is deadly scared or dies if you leave him in the kennel for the night. He whines because he knows that you will come to his aid and release him. Never let a dog out of your kennel unless he is completely calm. This will teach him that whining and crying get him now, as a result on quiet nights for you and your family. If you give in to whining and release your dog, it will only show him that he in fact, the teacher - and he just taught you to open the drawer when he whines! Remember that the alpha dog (that is, you) never takes orders from other participants in the package. Following your dog’s instructions, you’ll have a completely confused and disobedient dog on your hands — he will be the boss of some things, but not others, and this confusion will last his whole life as he struggles to find a balance. It is important that you stay alpha throughout your dog's life. Then he will know his place and will feel comfortable and happy when he fluctuates within his clear boundaries.

7) With puppies try putting a bottle of hot water under the blanket inside the nursery. This helps mimic the warmth of the trash your puppy is used to. A cold puppy is a lonely puppy. The warmth helps him sleep, feeling safe. Try adding a few stuffed animals around it too. This will also help mimic the litter. You do not need to do this if you are adopting an older dog, as they should be used for sleeping from the trash. In addition, for the first few nights, keep the nursery close to your bed so that the puppy does not feel completely isolated. I usually set the nursery on the table so that it is at the same level as my bed. Thus, the dog can see me and feel as if he is sleeping with his packaging. After the first week I move the nursery to the floor around the bed. Then, gradually, I begin to move the nursery away from the bed until it is in the place where most nights will remain.

One of the most important rules for learning mailboxes is to never give up! Even if you try everything, and your dog is still afraid of the kennel or is still whining, keep trying. If you do, here are some of the benefits you will get:

Peace of mind. You will always know that your dog is safe when he is in the kennel. A dog that is free to roam around the house at some point will go into something. Our homes are not like wild nature; they are at times more dangerous and provide many ways your dog can hurt itself. He could turn over the trashcan and scarf with chicken bones or greasy paper towels, which led to more trips to the vet (and the huge mess that needed to be cleared when you return home). He may find your shoes irresistible and eventually destroy a few pairs or swallow the shoelace. He can even pee or throw on one of your favorite rugs. I know dogs that have torn flashy pillows and even scratches in the doors and window screens. But when he is tied to the kennel, the dog will spend most of his time sleeping peacefully in a completely safe environment.

Composition. Training in the drawer provides structured sleep patterns. For those of you who have children, you know the benefits of planned sleep. Your dog needs at least 13 hours of sleep each day to function as intended. Structured sleep may result in fewer trips to the vet and an increase in your pet's lifespan.

Balance. If you ensure the safety and structure of your pet, you demonstrate good alpha leadership. Your dog will never have to wonder who his master is and he will have a balanced conscience. Think of the nicest dog you know. He himself did not become such whatever breed he was. Now think about its owner. When a dog with its owner, have you ever noticed some kind of “harmony” between them? If so, this is because the owner simply demonstrates the correct alpha leadership, providing a balance. The dog always knows its place and should never test the patience of the owner or check it. He just knows that he cannot leave with bad behavior, so he simply does not try. For example: I bring my dog to work with me. He has a nursery in the office, and I will make sure that he gets a few hours to take a nap in his nursery every day, although I am near him. I notice a huge change in his behavior, if I forget and leave him in the office all day without sleep in the nursery. He becomes insensitive and naughty! Nevertheless, when I try to observe the daily life of the nursery, he is the most obedient and contented. This is such a small act, but it goes a long way.

Saving. A healthy dog is an inexpensive dog. Yes, some dogs are born with conditions that require more veterinary bills than others, but keeping your dog from household hazards will keep money in the bank.

Faster house collapses. Dogs that train in a box usually break down faster than those that are not. This is because the box mimics life. In an obscene bed, since she is a handful of her puppies training, she never allows them to feed their living quarters. She pushes them a day several times a day so they can urinate. Dogs only soil their crates when they are very young and do not yet have proper control, if they are sick, or if they have been kept in the box for too long. In addition, they always prefer to urinate on the street. If you get into a routine to pick up your pet right in front of you and immediately after they are in the nursery, you will have fewer accidents, fewer disturbances to clean and more rapid destruction of the house. Fact: dogs left outside the box are destroyed somewhere in the house. And because its owners did not have to control, this place would be completely unnoticed. The problem is that the dog will continue to soil in the same place year after year, because they will continue to try to cover the disaster leading to a house that smells of ammonia. Do yourself a favor and pick up the train. You will be able to control the removal of your dog. And if your dog pollutes his crate, it is very easy to clean. Simply wash the bedding and wipe the removable tray in the nursery. You may also have to give the puppy a jar.

Relaxing trip. A dog that trains in a box is a great travel companion. Inside his box he will feel safe and sometimes he may even sleep during the whole journey. This way, you will not have a dog climbing on your knees while you are driving, and he will not be tempted to chew the upholstery. In addition, most hotels will welcome dogs if they are trained in boxes, saving you costly landing costs.

Finally, here are some guidelines to follow when training boxes:

- Boxes come in different shapes and sizes. Ask your breeder, vet, or someone at your local pet store what size is appropriate for your breed. A good rule of thumb is that the box should be large enough so that your dog (when it is fully grown) can stand up and turn around. It should not be so big that your dog can swim or play inside. Boxes usually cost between 30 and 150 dollars. But this one-time cost is nothing compared to what you could spend on damage caused by a dog that does not train in the box.

- Always keep fresh water in the drawer. A hamster or rabbit bottle works much better than an open bowl that can be flipped.

- Keep only safe toys inside the box. If your dog likes to break a stuffed animal, do not leave the stuffed animal inside the box. This could be a choking hazard. Most dogs just sleep inside their kennels, and they do not play, so toys are not needed.

- Keep the bottom of the drawer lined with a towel, pad, or a thin blanket. This will help soften the elbows, keep warm and help absorb accidents, making them easier to clean.

- Always take out your dog outside and make sure that he urinates before heading to the kennel. Then, when it's time to free the dog, pick it up right outside again. Never hang out as soon as the dog is released, as this can lead to an accident on the floor while you are looking for shoes.

- Never feed a dog right before heading to the kennel. A good rule of thumb is that your dog’s feeding time should be right after your family finishes dinner. Thus, the dog imitates the pack and eats right after that, and then the rest of the evening is digested. He should be able to eliminate the same evening before going to the nursery for the night.

- A dog should never spend more than 6 hours a day in its crate, except for the night. I believe that if a family should spend more than 8 hours a day away from home, only every evening to see their dog for several hours, they should not be dog owners. Dogs are pack animals, and no matter what we do, they will always be packaged animals, eager for constant communication. Separating them from life in a package and expecting them to thrive happily alone for so many hours a day is much tougher than the method of training boxes. If you must own a dog, regardless of this fact, consider that you own two or three. At least the dogs will not be left alone for most of their lives. A dog remaining isolated from its pack will demonstrate some or all of the following behaviors: nervousness, shaking, cowardice, hair loss, chewing on the paws until they are raw, anxious, disobedient, loss of bladder and bowel control, dehydration, exhaustion from barking throughout the day and from vomiting. If you have two or three dogs, you can see the same benefits of training in a crate, simply limiting your pets to your room during the day. Laundry or free bathroom works great. Provide food and water, comfortable dog beds and some newspaper on the floor that may have accidents. Make sure that there are no dangers in the room, such as garbage cans, and store items such as laundry detergent, drying sheets and cleaning products somewhere safe.

“In a few years, your dog must be able to“ end ”because of a nightly training box. My two and a half years, and he can only now sleep outside the drawer in our bedroom. You will find out that your dog is ready when he is successfully destroyed at home and demonstrates independence in his sleeping places. As dogs get older, they are more sensitive to temperature and can switch from sleeping to warm fleece to sleep on a cool wooden floor several times during the night. Maintaining a satisfactory temperature for your dog is difficult inside the box. When appropriate, allow your dog to sleep outside the kennel, but close the bedroom door so that he cannot roam around the house. Give him a special bed to lie down next to your bed, and do not forget to take it from the first morning of the morning. Keep folding the train when you leave the house.

- I know a few dogs to “graduate” from day-time training boxes. These are usually guard dogs or wards. There is a difference between a guard dog and what I call a "trust" dog.
