Twickenham Stadium - Home English Rugby - Cabbage Patch

Twickenham Stadium is not only home to rugby in England, but is also the largest venue dedicated exclusively to rugby events. Bought for £ 5,500 in 1907, it was transformed from a cabbage patch (as it is affectionate nickname) to the UK’s second largest stadium after Wembley. The capacity of 82,000 people is the fifth largest stadium in Europe. The first rugby game was between Harlequins and Richmond in 1909, and the matches have not stopped since then! The 2009/2010 season was the 100th anniversary of the first international in Twickenham. To mark a historic achievement, the England team played Wales on February 6 in special commemorative shirts designed for the match.

Things to do and see at Twickenham Rugby Stadium

Cabbage Patch offers more than just a place to watch rugby. Get the first hand experience of excitement of the match day, go deep into the story through the stadium tour and the world rugby museum and buy a souvenir in the rugby store. Currently, not only a sports venue, Twickenham Stadium also opens its doors to a wide range of events. Since the 1950s, it has accepted the annual annual conventions of Jehovah Jehovah, in which about 25,000 people participated annually. It is also known as a musical place. Over the years, Lady Gaga, Avenged Sevenfold, Iron Maiden U2, Genesis, The Police, REM, Bon Jovi, Eagles, Richard Benson and The Rolling Stones have visited him.

Walk of Legends and the centenary wall

Walk Of Legends is a unique feature of Twickenham Stadium and a must-see rugby fan. It celebrates the greatest in English rugby and displays the 46 best English players in history, including Johnny Wilkinson, Martin Johnson, Lawrence Dallallo, Jason Robinson, David Dackham and Mickey Skinner. You can see an amazing opportunity if you visit the Lion Gate, next to the newly built South Stand. The path consists of squares, central parts, dedicated to each of the famous players. The surrounding squares were bought by fans of England who want to leave their mark on the stadium. To celebrate the centenary with Twickenham Stadium, the wall was erected in the same style as the Walk of Legends. The 100-year-old wall can be visited opposite the stand in the northeast.
