One of the most innovative, inventive and revered artists of the Netherlands in the seventeenth century, Rembrandt Harmensun van Rijn or simply Rembrandt (1606-69), is accredited with painting European art history. Rembrandt adopted the "Baroque" style of painting, thanks to which he would depict female mythological figures with great grandeur. Throughout the performance of "Baroque" artists, objects have always depicted drama, luxury and a rich lifestyle. Rembrandt was famous for the personification of mythological figures as emotional and spiritual people. Rembrandt achieved his innovative style in his masterpiece “Danee (DanaĆ«)”, created in 1636.
In Greek mythology, “Dani”, the mother of the hero Perseus, symbolizes the woman of purity, who welcomes Zeus and is saturated with a shower of gold. Rembrandt, however, differs from this traditional faith and painted “Danae” in the nude, depicting her complex emotions. The picture created a real stir, as nudity was a taboo for European artists. In “Danee,” the main character is a young woman half lying on a white linen sheet, with puffy yellow pillows. She looks away from the viewer, portraying her expectations of Zeus. The human element is mentioned here with its crafty thirst for love.
With the help of a single shinger, in Danae, Rembrandt effectively used colors while simultaneously manipulating and observing the effects of light on them. Rembrandt originally painted this masterpiece, considering his rich wife Saskia Dana. Later, because of her death, however, he rejected this idea and painted the masterpiece by his mistress Gertie Durks as a model for Danae. In general, the subject of clothing from the picture is that Lord Zeus is coming, and Danae will be delivered with gold.
This 185 cm × 203 cm (73 inch × 80 inch) canvas work was part of the collection of French art collector Pierre Crozat. From the eightieth century "Dani" was exhibited at the Hermitage in St. Louis. Petersburg, Russia. At the end of June 15, 1985, however, the young history acidic acid dyed and cut twice with a sharp knife. As a result, unfortunately, the central zone of the masterpiece was completely destroyed, leaving only a mixture of color. The process of restoring this sensitive and bold masterpiece began immediately. After an intense and exhausting effort, from 1985 to 1997, scientists, including Gerasimov, A.G. Rahman, G.A. Shirokov and ETC. Aleshin, managed to restore "Danae." Well-known scholars of art appreciated the efforts and even commented: "more than 70 percent of the paint surface remained intact."
Rembrandt competently personified love and purity through the mythological figure “Danae”. His execution of the painting is evidence of his innovation and adaptability. This picture continues to captivate art historians and philosophy. "Danae" allows the viewer to feel spirituality with added grandeur, which is actually quite embarrassing experience.
