Tag Heuer Watches - the creation of Swiss history since 1860-2

This classic, the Swiss Tag Heuer watch, can be traced back to 1860, and a young man by the name of Edward Heyer, who at the age of 20 opened his first watch workshop "Edward Heyer, Factory d. 39". in the swiss village of Saint-Imier.

Heuer stench by nature was fascinated by the exact time. His emphasis on accuracy was demonstrated in 1916 with the introduction of what would be called the Micrograph, a stopwatch with an accuracy of 1/100 second, followed shortly by Semicrosplit with an accuracy of 1/50 second. His obsession with accuracy is what ultimately leads to worldwide fame. His chronographs were so sharp that in 1920 they were chosen as the official watch of the Antwerp Olympiad. A few decades later, it will be Tag Heuer, which will be the first Swiss hour that will go into space on the wrist of John Glenn.

To achieve this accuracy, Heyer worked for a long time and patented many unique mechanical features along the way, such as the “Trip Time” function (think about two sets of hour and minute hands applied to one that reports time, the other that acts as a timer) which went beyond the wrist and into the dashboards of airplanes and automobiles in the early 1900s. Heuer was so ahead of his time, his patent for the oscillating gear, granted in 1887, is still used in many hours today.

As the years spent by Heuer, will create a series of famous watches, each of which will become more innovative and more accurate than the previous one. However, in 1969 this will be the next step forward in the creation of watches, when a joint venture between Heuer, Breitling and Hamilton will give what may have been the first automatic chronograph in the world. This achievement, opened in New York on March 3, 1969, helped to further expose the brand on the world stage and secure its place as a durable watch manufacturer.

In 1985, Heuer was acquired by Tag (Techniques d & Avant Garde) to create the Tag Heuer Watch company. The company will continue to make one of the most popular models of Tag Heuer, The Tag Heuer Formula 1 Watch. On September 13, 1999, the company will be sold to the luxury brand holding company LVMH Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy for an amount of $ 750 million. The new parent company will continue to increase the distribution capacity exponentially and increase the Tag Heuer Watch brand as a status and privilege.
