The creators of watches and clocks Audemars Piguet have their origin back in 1875 in the form of two men at the age of about twenty. Jules-Louis Audemars met with Edward-Auguste Pighet in Valle de Ju, Switzerland. Of course, luxury watch enthusiasts undoubtedly know that Vallee de Joux is considered the heart of prestigious watchmaking.
The company grew from there, typing customers at Tiffany & Co., Cartier and Bulgari, who sold Audemars Piguet under their own names in the first half of the 20th century. In 1925, the Audemars Piguet created the thinnest pocket watch in the world, measured at exactly 1.32 millimeters. Just a few years later, they created the first skeleton watch.
Perhaps, ironically, the worldwide success of the watch company Audemars Piguet occurred only after the death of the company's founders. Jules-Louis Audemars passed away in 1918, and Edward-Auguste Pighet died a little less than a year later. But their company lived and flourished, and since its inception, a member of the Audemars family and Piguet has always been on the directives board, ensuring that the descendant Jules-Louis Audemard and Edward-Auguste Piguet always have some control in the direction of the company.
This means that one of his descendants was responsible for the recent endorsement of Formula One racing car racer Michael Schumacher.
More than a year ago, the German Schumacher announced that he would return to professional racing as the frontman of the Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team. By joining longtime partner Ross Brown (the pair won seven World Cup titles together), Schumacher and his team not only received approval from the watch company Audemars Piguet, they became the main icon.
So, what is the connection between the hundred-year-old luxury watch company and the racer of the world champion? Well, as Schumacher says, "two minutes is an eternity for those of us who are used to fighting for tenths of a second."
Schumacher, apparently, is a fanatic of watches who has been collecting designer watches for a number of years. He was quoted as follows: “(I) was presented for thin mechanical watches from Audemars Piguet, which I like to compare with racing cars because of their many common denominators, including high-tech materials, the latest R & D designs and optimized mechanical ones. I admire the incredible work teams at Le Brassus and Le Locle, who shape the gorgeous watches with ingenious technologies and bold projects, but do not lose sight of the watchmaking traditions. ”
The representative of the watch company also said that the relationship between themselves and Schumacher goes beyond the "skill and experience." Both parties also participate in a number of similar charitable purposes.
However, these two are now associated with this basic endorsement. And the next time Schumacher gets to the top of a Formula 1 podium, you can bet that he will wear an Audermars Piguet.
