
The historic city of Senja, Georgia, is a small city stone. Located forty miles south of Atlanta in County Cowe, Señoja (pronounced Seh-noy) radiates charm and southern hospitality. Senoia is a Mecca for film crews and tourists. This city of 3,300 people has found a way to give a good account of itself and to avoid empty shop windows and the loss of population, which hit many other small communities. Senoia is a Ready Ready community for Georgia that works effectively with the film and television industries to bring production work in the area.
For the past two decades, the center of the city of Señoi has been used as a filming location for several films. The driving scenes of Miss Daisy, fried green tomatoes, sweet home Alabama, Andersonville, a meeting with the Browns, and a remake of "Footloose 2011" were filmed on site. Raleigh Studios-Atlanta has a studio and apartments of 120 acres outside the city. The company’s executive director was instrumental in rebuilding half the stores in downtown Senja. The AMC hit series “The Walking Dead” filmed many episodes in Senoia. Known as Woodbury on the show, downtown Seña was walled in the third season as a safe zone during the zombie apocalypse. The series was recently updated for Season 5, so cast members and zombie add-ons will be returning to Senja soon to make a film.
Residents consider Seño a large southern hometown. Southern Living magazine has twice chosen Senoia as the site for its Southern Living Idea House. The house of 2010 was a luxurious brown-haired residence of 5,000 square feet. In 2012, Idea House was renovated historic home before the civil war. In the center of Senja, there are antique shops, gift shops, clothing boutiques and restaurants. Grammy Award-winning art director Zach Brown has the southern club club Zac Brown located at 18 Main Street. Patrons can enjoy southern-style dishes and a full bar. Once a week there is live music, including an open party with a microphone.
Residents and guests of the city of Senei can attend several special events throughout the year. The celebration of Memorial Day is a parade, an exhibition of arts and crafts and fireworks. Classic cars lined up on the main street every autumn for the Cruisin & the Oldies Car Show. The festive season brings Christmas home and a candle. , Tourists from all over the country flock to Senjou to see glimpses of filming.
Senja has retained its historical heritage, finding a way to survive in the current economic climate. Visitors embroidered the charm of a small town, enjoying the lively center of the city and a real sense of community.
