Thanks to the latest advances in technology, many luxury cars are equipped with HID or High Intensity Discharge lamps. This xenon system is also called a gas discharge system. The light produced by these xenon lights is blue, transparent white or violet.
Unlike halogen lamps, which are generated by electric current flowing through a thread, the HID lamp is filled with xenon gas and metal halide particles. It ignites from 20,000 to 23,000 volts.
When considering road safety, these lights are ideal for longer trips, especially at night. The driver is able to overcome a greater distance, and fatigue at night decreases. Once a person reaches 40 years of age, they need better light for visibility, especially at night. HID Xenon lights produce ten times more light, which helps drivers avoid potholes and animals crossing the road when driving at high speed.
There are several advantages to using HID xenon lights in vehicles. The brightness of the lumen or light source is pure white. It is considered daily, as it falls into the category from 4300 to 12000K. On the other hand, halogen is 3200 K and falls under the category of yellow. This makes the HID Xenon light (35 W) almost three times higher than that of a conventional halogen lamp (55 W / 60 W). The HID system does not heat up as much as halogen, and the power consumed from the generator is also reduced by almost 40%.
Bulbs, which are used for headlights, lasts from 3000 to 4000 hours. These bulbs are expensive compared to standard halogen bulbs and can be easily replaced. The advantage is that they do not need to be replaced in pairs and can be installed by any qualified vehicle. Xenon HID LEDs flicker intermittently to warn that they require replacement. When replacing incandescent bulbs, disconnect power to prevent high voltage, which is usually associated with these types of systems.
HID Xenon luminaires have colors that range from pure white, blue, violet or white light with a yellow tinge. The updated version is available in the form of white, purple and blue shades. These lights can be used legally. Luxury cars such as BMW, Mercedes and other 4 x 4 cars are equipped with these lights as a popular choice. They produce a certain type of light that makes driving at night enjoyable.
