A CAR
The Ferrari F430 sports car was launched at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, and its stable assistant, the F430 Spider, a two-seater convertible version of the Berlinetta, was introduced in March 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show.
Like the 355 Spider, the soft top was electrically turned on and automatically folded into the space in front of the engine compartment, which was displayed under the glass cover.
The two-stage operation was very fast, about 20 seconds, and even with the folded state in no way concealed the view of the engine.
Like its predecessors, the F430 series, including the Spider, was developed by Pininfarina.
It was equipped with a much larger air intake at the rear to ensure maximum cooling of the new engine due to the abundance of the top rolled down.
In front of the car were two air intakes that were loaded into a spoiler, located under the front bumper, which acted to direct the air to the car.
This helped to increase the effect of the earth, which was further enhanced by the large rear diffuser, combined with the fact that the bottom of the car was completely flat.
The new feature was called E-Diff and was actually limited to the slip differential, which was activated by the computer to ensure maximum grip when cornering and, thus, prevent the wheel from spinning.
An additional addition was the Manettino switch located on the steering wheel, which allowed the driver to choose a function controlled by a computer according to road conditions, such as traction control via E-Diff, suspension, gear shift speed and throttle response.
As an option, ceramic composite disc brakes with excellent anti-damping performance are offered, as well as an F1-style gearbox with gearshift paddles.
F430 Spider shared the same interior as in Berlinet.
ENGINE
The F430 Spider was equipped with a new 4.3-liter V8 engine with four valves per cylinder, unlike the five-cylinder model in the 360 series.
This more powerful engine developed 483 hp. at 8500 rpm (red line) and torque 344 ft / lb at 5250 rpm.
Compare to the coupe, it allowed the spider to produce a maximum speed of 193 mph (3 miles per hour slower) and 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds (2 seconds longer).
COMPETITION
The Ferrari F430 Spider sports car rivals included the following: the Lamborghini Gallardo Spider, the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and the Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster. Ferrari performance:
