In fact, they are enough to cause misunderstanding for inexperienced buyers. It is very important to understand the most popular types of fur coats before you make a purchase, so that you can leave confidently and satisfied with your new fur coat purchase.

In this first part of the two articles, we will look at the different parts of fur that make up the skin, mink wool and its characteristics, as well as rabbit fur and its advantages. The next article will discuss in detail the fox fur, chinchilla fur and other types of fur, as well as the origin of the mold.

Fur details

All fur consists of three parts; skin, protective hair and undercoat. The skin is obvious to most people, but just in case it is the support that holds wool hair in place. This is what keeps everything together. Without undercoat and protective hair, you will have a simple old leather coat or jacket. The undercoat is fuzzy (and usually softer) dense, but very thin hair. An undercoat is what gives hair its warmth and is usually shorter in length than protective hair, but not always. Sharp hair is usually shiny and longer than undercoat. Skins to protect the fur are responsible for all types of fur coats.

mink

Fur fur remained on the pedestal through the evolution of the fur industry. It is soft and light and has shiny protective hair in combination with medium density, soft undercoat. Mink skins are smaller than men's skins and have narrower stripes when building mink clothes. These skins sometimes make a softer, silky coat than a single mink mink skin. Mink skins usually have thinner skin, thereby reducing the weight of the final fur coat.

Do not allow smooth mink skins to deceive you! These types of fur coats are incredibly durable, their luxurious look. The mink fur offers an endless variety of colors from natural shades of ranch, mahogany, demi-buff, autumn haze and white, almost any color under the rainbow when dried. When it comes to mink, the difference in height of guard hair versus undercoat is called “sleep”; usually, the shorter the sleep, the higher the quality of the mink.

Although the natural (non-colored) mink is the most desirable, it usually has a premium price due to the additional costs of obtaining and carefully matching the skin. Of course, there is nothing wrong with dyed mink; it simply does not have the same quality of color as the natural mink fur. Currently, most furs have minimal dye, an “improved” or added dye. This means that a small amount of dye is used (not enough to soak the skin) on the fibers of the fur to establish color consistency across all the skins used in the design of the garment.

Natural Mink Colors

  • Ranch-mink is black (it is often considered that the term ranch refers to the origin of the material in the sense that it originates from a mink ranch, and not trapped in the wild. Color that is extremely dark brown to black mink resin.)
  • Mahogany - dark brown
  • Demi-buff (Lunaraine) - from medium to light dark brown
  • Autumn Haze - Light Brown to Beige
  • Ice - white (not pure white) with a golden hue
  • Arcturus - light beige with a delicate bluish tint
  • Black or brown cross - from white to glacial tones with a black or brown rinse on the tips of the protective hair on grutzen (Grutzen - central stripe down the back).

Rabbit

Rabbit fur usually has medium-length protective hair that appears in several natural colors, such as shades of brown or brown, as well as any color under the rainbow when dried. These types of fur coats are great for kids, because they are relatively inexpensive, light and very soft textures.

Basically there are two types of rabbit furs: Normal and Rex. Normal rabbit fur has an average low durability, but because of the price compared to other furs, this is considered a high value for money. Rex's rabbit fur has medium strength and is much softer and fluffy than regular rabbit fur. Normal rabbit fur can vary considerably in quality, and lower qualities are subject to shedding and unraveling hair, while Rex's rabbit hair has a very narrow range of quality and very few sheds. A rex rabbit usually hits the price point a little higher than regular rabbit fur. Because of its price point and soft texture, rabbit fur is one of the most popular types of fur jackets and material for trimming on leather and fabric coverings.

More detailed information on fox fur, chinchilla fur and other types of fur in detail, as well as the origin of the mold will be given in the section “Choosing Fur Coat Types, Part Two”.
