In an era when green sells, marketers quickly add popular labels, including “eco-friendly” and “organic”, to make their items much more attractive to the public. Unfortunately, in many industries there are no measurable standards, and although many firms speak in conversations, there are minimal measures to support it.
On the other hand, a luxurious resort in Bali tends to stroll, developing the world's first fully ecological five-star estate, Green Village on the River Aung. Real estate and real estate broker Nils Wetterlind was inspired by the Green School in Bali and collaborated with PT Bambu (the builders of the Green School) to develop a resort that combines environmentally friendly style tactics with organic modern architecture.
For Wetterlinde, this is truly a personal goal, achieved after a small search for the soul and a significant frustration with the hypocrisy of some builders.
“There are many hotels that have something ecological, but only a tiny part, and then call themselves ecological. The same thing as talking about energy and energy is simply non-existent. You pollute and you don’t, if it’s just an element - then you’re not green, ”Wetterlynd explains. "And when I talk about the very first five-star eco-resort in the world, I actually mean it, because in fact there is no such resort that is still completely neutral on this planet."
Bamboo is the right material for this five star resort. A surprisingly versatile plant will provide everything from beams for construction to floor boards to fibers for woven mats.
Although some may be nervous, sleeping in a bamboo villa, there is no need to worry. Bamboo is as strong as steel, but much more malleable, which makes it ideal for creating designs. And bamboo adds green confidence at the resort, offering other environmental benefits: it is actively working to convert carbon dioxide to oxygen at a faster rate than traditional hardwood, and it serves as an amazing controller of erosion in the rich moisture of Bali.
On a larger scale, Wetterlind sees the untapped potential of bamboo as a substitute for traditional hardwoods and is a way to end the destructive plague of deforestation. Every year, the Earth loses forest belts larger than Panama for agriculture and logging needs, and this loss destroys habitat for thousands of species and leads to climate change. According to some experts, the current rate of deforestation may disappear within 100 years. Wetterlind himself believes that for ten years the forest remaining in Indonesia will not be, unless a viable alternative is found for the manufacture and use of materials.
Bamboo with its outstanding growing speed and many uses can be a viable solution to the problem of deforestation. Bamboo shoots in tropical countries grow up to 30 meters within six months, which directly shows the potential of bamboo to replace the slow growth of tree species in terms of annual yield, according to Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands.
And although there is a measurable result of beautiful villas and local farmers growing bamboo, there is also a less tangible, but equally important advantage of real green marketing and, for example, citing an example.
