Comfy Feet, healthy you-2

Our legs can be one of the most neglected aspects of our body, even if they do most of the hard work every day. They are accused of carrying us through every path that life leads us to, and they are often stuffed with deep, smelly sweaty shoes. Take a look at your feet right now. Are they free and free and comfortable, or are they neglected? I think one of the best things in growth in South America is that I learned about the importance of caring for my feet, since it was ranked there with dental care!

Brazilians value the health of their feet, and they treat their feet with extreme caution. Although each culture is different, some of the most serious side effects of poor health are neglecting feet. For example, in diabetes, we check our legs for every exam. This is due to the fact that the first signs of complications from diabetes are often observed in the legs. What do your feet tell you about your health? Go and buy the shoes that give them the extra comfort they need. Who knows, maybe this will help you to be so active that you also want to be. Here are a few pointers to choosing the right shoe straight from Harvard:

Shop for shoes in the afternoon, as your legs expand throughout the day.

Wear the socks that you usually wear.

Walk in the shoes before buying, and trust your own comfort more than the size!

As I think about the last 10 years in medical missions, I think the best stories are to give someone a gift of a new shoe. For many of us, it is easy to take for granted that we can have the right shoes that we need. But it is definitely a luxury in many parts of the world.

I especially think of a woman I met in Africa who walked five miles every day. Her legs looked so exhausted and tired, and all she had to wear was slippers. As soon as I realized that we were wearing the same size, I gave her my favorite sneakers that I was wearing that day. The colors looked so cheerful on her feet and definitely gave her an extra rebound as she walked the dirt road home. The look of relief on her face was priceless when I handed her those shoes. Now she could walk to work with the shoes that supported her. When I watched her step turn into a rebound, I was reminded how easy it is to take something as simple as good shoes as taken for granted.

Take a look at your feet today. Do they need additional help? Are they looking for a little extra bounce? If so, here to the new shoe this holiday season!
