Since the opening of The Dark Knight Rises in cinemas in 2012, which is the final movie of Batman by Christopher Nolan, Jaeger LeCoultre has announced a new limited version of Batman Reverso watches. This new model is based on the track Reverso Ultra Thin Tribe until 1931, but includes a unique Batman logo, varnished on the back. The side of the watch face has a very smooth black dial, combined with a black alligator strap and stainless steel.
Jaeger LeCoultre watches are appreciated by collectors, as the brand has a tradition of supplying movements and other details to many other famous watch companies, including Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe. Founded in 1833, the company continued to make progress in watchmaking and actually made the most sophisticated wristwatch in the world in 2009, in which there were 26 complications. Reverso watches, first released in 1931, were intended for polo players who needed watches that could be protected from shock. Deco watch lines are inspired, and the swiveling case can be engraved for personalization.
New Reverse Tribute to 1931
The Reverse Ultra Thin Tribe before 1931, also just released, is unique because the belts were specially ordered by the company and made by Eduardo Fagliano from Argentina, who also makes shoes for Argentine polo players. Since the original Reverso watches were designed for polo players, this is a rather interesting link. Only 100 of these limited edition Jaeger LeCoultre watches are available at $ 7,250 stainless steel.
Interestingly, this new Batman Reverso watch is not just a tribute, as Bruce Wayne, played by Christian Bale, wore one of the Reverso Jaeger LeCoultre watches through the trilogy. Val Kilmer wore a Jaeger LeCoultre watch, as well as for the movie “Batman Forever” in 1995. This is also the second Batman Reverzo watch released by JLC. The first, released in 1995, is not as impressive as this new model, although it is still popular in the used car market for those looking for a limited edition watch from the company.
In a press release reporting this new Batman Reverso, there were a lot of photos, although he didn’t provide many details. How many of these watches will be made is still unknown, and it is also unclear where they will be sold. Jaeger LeCoultre hinted that the watches will be on display at JLC boutiques located in Hong Kong, Geneva, London and Los Angeles, California.
